Groundnut and maize buyers work to very different aflatoxin ceilings depending on destination. Getting this wrong means rejection at the border.
Aflatoxin is the parameter most likely to get an otherwise good consignment turned away, and the limits are not standardised across markets.
The spread
The European Union works to among the tightest limits in the world for groundnuts intended for direct human consumption. Several Asian and Middle Eastern markets operate at materially higher ceilings. A lot that is comfortably compliant for one destination can be rejected outright at another.
Test before you ship, not after
Testing at the destination is how you discover a problem you can no longer fix. We test at intake and again pre-shipment, and we will not load a lot against a limit it has not been tested to.
Sampling is the weak point
Aflatoxin contamination is not evenly distributed through a lot — it concentrates in pockets. That makes the sampling plan more important than the assay. A single grab sample from one bag tells you very little. Use an incremental sampling plan across the lot.
