Most quality claims on bulk agri consignments trace back to how the container was loaded, not to what went into it.
In our experience most quality claims on bulk agricultural consignments are not really quality claims. The goods left in specification and arrived out of it, and what happened in between was loading.
Condensation
A container loaded in a humid port and shipped through a temperature gradient will rain on its own cargo. Container liners and desiccant bags cost very little against the value of a claim. Use them on anything hygroscopic.
Loading warm
Product stuffed while still warm from drying carries that heat for days inside a steel box. Let it come down to ambient first. This single point accounts for a large share of avoidable mould claims.
Weight distribution
Uneven loading is a road-safety issue at both ends and a rejection risk at the port of loading. Even distribution is not optional.
Photographs
Photograph the empty container, the loading in progress, the full container and the sealed doors with the seal number legible. It takes five minutes and it has resolved more disputes for us than any other single practice.
